Gerard graduated from Dundee Dental School where he obtained the prize for the best student in dental hospital practice.

At the earliest opportunity, he obtained his membership exams to the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and also completed his Diploma in dental implants from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He has obtained further training from world leading centres and clinicians in the UK and Brazil to name just a few. His most recent international course was advanced hard and soft tissue grafting in Hungary in March 2023.

Gerard has experience working throughout the UK. He has worked in Maxillofacial surgical departments where he helped treat patients with cancer, facial trauma, and facial reconstructions. He then worked as a general dentist doing both NHS and private dentistry where he was a mentor for newly qualified dentists. These experiences have allowed the progression to his current post of becoming the lead implant and cosmetic dentist at Tooth Doctor Carluke.

His clinical time here is entirely implant and restorative related where he has a keen interest in smile makeovers and single to full mouth implant placements. He provides all aspects of surgical implant therapy, frequently treating complicated patients referred from other implant dentists. When not at the Tooth Doctor he mentors and teaches other dentists looking to advance their skills in implant placement and restorations.

He has a success rate above the industry average of 90-95% for dental implants, also, he is an accredited provider of Invisalign, Quick Straight Teeth, SmileFast and Wrinkle reducing treatments to name a few.

Gerard’s calming, friendly and cheerful nature helps put patients at ease. He strives to make sure every patient has a tailored treatment plan that suits their wants and needs.

On a more personal level Gerard and his wife Pauline have two beautiful children, Cathal and Catalina. They enjoy a very busy family life together and spend most weekends enjoying golf, swimming, walks out in nature and at kids clubs.

When they get the opportunity for a break they love to holiday abroad in the sunshine with Tenerife and Florida being their favourite destinations, and also they love to enjoy Perth and the Lake District whilst at home.

Gerard loves sport in every form with football being at the forefront, both playing and watching his favourite team.

In what spare time he has he enjoys the golf and his peloton and loves to cook, especially with his Kamado Joe treating everyone to his lovely BBQ’s. They love to socialise with family and friends and enjoy having family over.
